The CSH is recruiting a research fellow in the field of International Relations. The candidate should be in possession of a PhD in IR, political science, sociology or geography at the time of the application, with a good publication record. Fluency in English (both written and spoken) is a must. In charge of a personal research project, he/she will be focusing on at least one of the following issues: transnational political mobilizations, Internet in India and South Asia, the Indian diaspora. Preference will be given to candidates working with a particular emphasis on digital politics and policies and/or on electronic mobilization and/or the electronic media.

Le Centre de sciences humaines accueille chaque année à New Delhi des élèves de 3ème année de l'École polytechnique. Lors de stages de trois mois réalisés entre avril et juillet de chaque année, destinés à l'apprentissage des méthodes de recherche, ces élèves polytechniciens sont rattachés à des projets de recherche du CSH. Dans leurs travaux sur l'économie de l'Inde, ils appliquent des outils de modélisation poussés. Quatre de ces étudiants accueillis au Csh ont obtenu un Prix du stage de recherche en économie pour une dissertation de recherche en économie de l'École polytechnique au cours des six dernières années. Le dernier en date est Mathieu Teachout, pour une dissertation portant sur Croissance et disparités régionales en Inde.

Le Centre de Sciences Humaines ( CSH) à New Delhi cherche son directeur qui sera également Directeur Adjoint de l'Unité de Service et de Recherche CNRS 3330 Savoirs et Mondes Indiens. Providing universal access to drinking water remains a formidable challenge in the cities of developing countries and all potential technical and institutional solutions need to be taken into account. By looking at the specific example of "user group networks" set up in a poor neighbourhood in the North-East of Mumbai, this article aims to highlight the ability of local communities to design and run functional systems that compensate for shortcomings in the public service.

The public goods problem (Hardin, The Tragedy of the Commons,1968), either viewed as a problem of extraction and optimal use of a resource, or that of shared contributions to the cost of a resource, has had a long history in the social sciences. Our experimental design, using methods in experimental economics, uses a standard Voluntary Contributions Mechanism (VCM) game with a moderately large group of ten and face-to-face communication between the participants. The subjects, who are villagers in the Gori-Ganga Basin of the Central Himalayas, are not re-matched every period. Our results are somewhat different from laboratory experiments using a similar design such as Isaac and Walker (1988a, 1988b).

In September 2008, the Nuclear Suppliers Group (NSG) granted a waiver to India for allowing nuclear commerce with the country without its having to accept full-scope safeguards on its nuclear programme. In October 2008, President Obama signed the 123 agreement. A few months later, India and the IAEA concluded the India Specific Safeguards Agreement (ISSA). With the conclusion of these three steps, India became an equal opportunity partner in international nuclear commerce after suffering from a long period of technology denial regimes.

Using the non parametric approach of Data Envelopment Analysis (DEA) this paper examines the input and output efficiencies of the Indian pharmaceutical firms for the period 1991 to 2005. The analysis establishes that although the output efficiency level of firms reveals a declining trend, firms have been able to make efficient use of labour and raw material inputs.
