L'Institut Français de Pondichéry offre pour l'année 2012-2013, trois bourses d'études doctorales dans les domaines de l'Indologie, de l'Ecologie et des Sciences Sociales. Les bourses sont ouvertes aux étudiants souhaitant travailler sur un sujet en relation avec les programmes de recherche de l'IFP. Ces trois bourses locales (BL) d'une durée de deux ans (+ 1 an renouvelable) s'adressent à des doctorants ayant obtenu l'examen UGC (University Grants Commission, Inde) ou équivalent, et souhaitant travailler à l' IFP qui sera obligatoirement le laboratoire principal d'accueil de la thèse. Le montant de la bourse est de 25,000 INR mensuels.

This Research Policy Paper is the result of a collaboration between the CSH and the MOST-UNESCO Programme. It appears timely to open up this debate when various governmental programmes are being launched and when this question is debated internationally. The “World Charter for the Right to the City”, elaborated at the Social Forum for the Americas (Quito, July 2004) and at the World Urban Forum (Barcelona, September 2004) resulted from a series of struggles, by various social movements and organizations, to promote a rights-based approach to the challenges of urbanization. This charter received the support of several local governments, which took up the task of elaborating city charters, and of international organizations, including the UN-HABITAT and the UNESCO.

The Bhaktimandākinī is a commentary by the Keralan exegete Pūrṇasarasvatī, a Śaiva ascetic who is well known for his learned and aesthetically sensitive commentaries on works of belles lettres in Sanskrit. The commentary expounds the Viṣṇupādādikeśastotra, a hymn of fifty-two intricately elegant verses that describe every detail of Viṣṇu from his toes to his hair, as well as his spouses and his various weapons (conch, discus, sword, etc.). This literary stotra, composed in sragdharā metre, is traditionally ascribed to the non-dualist philosopher Śaṅkara.

This CD-ROM presents, in the form of a dictionary, the examples of conjugated verbal forms given by Bhaṭṭoji Dīkṣita in his Siddhāntakaumudī in the chapters in which he deals with the causative, the desiderative, the intensive, the denominative, the possible combinations of these conjugations, the middle voice, the active voice, the impersonal, the passive and the reflexive.

This research programme is funded by The French National Research Agency ( ANR) and will be conducted from January 2011 till December 2013.

The SUBURBIN project questions both the scholarly representation and the measurement of the ongoing process of urban shift from rural to urban population. It seeks to counter a vision of urbanisation as reduced to a process of agglomeration and a competition between global cities. The project's hypothesis is that there exists a diversity of trajectories of urbanisation, which it seeks to understand with a focus on India's small towns. It aims at bringing these marginal small agglomerations to the forefront of the analysis of urbanisation dynamics, which are more complex than what is often presented : beyond the ongoing growth of megacities, a double process of slowing down of residential migration and an increase in the number of small towns coexist.
